Family
I currently live with my marvelous husband and cat in the city of Williamston, MI. My husband works as a computer programer in Lansing and is from France so I get to practice my French from time to time. My husband and the rest of my family means the world to me. I have two amazing parents, three wonderful sisters, and a fabulous extended family.
Employment
After my internship at Lansing Everett High School, I accepted a position for English and French at Star International Academy in Dearborn Heights. I then moved to Swartz Creek High School to teach English 11 and 12. In 2012 I took the year off and decided to try being an instructional designer for the state, but I really missed teaching so I returned to Swartz Creek High School to teach French I, II, and III. I'm a proud dragon!
Pourquoi le francais? (Why French?)
I love that my profession allows me to share my passion for the French language and culture. My love for French was originally inspired by my French ancestry and then compounded by a natural tenacity for languages. At present I've been studying French for twelve years and even have the perfect partner to practice with because my husband is from France. We make an effort to visit France once a year in order to visit family and give me new ideas for curriculum (visit to Lyon, France pictured on left). I try to keep my lesson plans current with the latest in French fashion, cuisine, music, news, etc. Typically this tends to inspire greater engagement and motivation. It's amazing to be able to see my students adopt the same fascination and interest in French as I hold.
